Types and differences of auto parts in the car market. Part 2

3. Parts produced by manufacturers for aftermarket

This is the most extensive part of the market, with large number of companies manufacturing goods of various quality presented therein. Here, one can find complete range of factories: from future suppliers of genuine parts, who comply with all technical requirements and standards, but, due to some reason, have not managed yet to press up current market leader, to numerous “no name” factories, manufacturing cheap products of low quality. Quality of parts made by manufacturers for aftermarket may vary even depending on car brand, therefore, only professional service centers, sellers of car parts and intent drivers are really well aware of range of such parts.

We recommend following manufacturers of aftermarket parts: Cars245, DEPO, Hitachi, Huco, JP-Group, Loro, Mobidex, Qinton-Hazell, Topran, Turborail, TYC, Vaico, Vemo.

4. Refurbished parts

These are parts and nodes, which were used, but were completely refurbished, cleaned, and elements thereof were replaced with new ones. The reason of choice of such parts may include high price of new such node, which significantly exceeds price of refurbishment, or official discontinuation of manufacturing of such part, for example, for retro cars. This group includes two main types:

  • Combined parts sold in nodes, consisting of numerous small parts;
  • Single parts, elements of which have different length of service.

In refurbished parts, only elements subjected to load and tear during exploitation have been replaced. Other elements, which do not have limitations of period of service (for example, expensive metal bodies of parts, used for the purpose of holding of elements in their places and not being subjected to any significant influences during exploitation), only undergo cleaning and preventive treatment.

In cases, when these repair processes have been carried out in factories manufacturing similar parts, the manufacturer may even give warranty to its products. Manufacturers thoroughly follow the quality of such refurbished parts, therefore, their quality and length of service are higher than those of cheap parts, made by unknown manufacturers, and is similar to parameters of genuine parts.

5. Used parts

These are parts, usually taken from cars being disassembled after traffic accidents. The only advantage of such parts is low price, but majority of them already have significant tear; moreover, it is possible that they will have some important exploitation defects, which may cause fast breakage.

We strongly recommend not to install used parts, since it may be unsafe.

6. Counterfeits

High price of genuine parts and probability of cheap manufacturing of low-quality goods attracts numerous fraudsters, who falsify goods of leading global suppliers and sell them to unsuspicious buyers as discounted products. Such parts may be dangerous because of low quality thereof, and may cause entire node breakage, followed by expensive repair.You may read on how to distinguish between genuine parts and counterfeit here .
