Types and differences of automotive parts in the car market.

There are six categories of spare parts:
1. Genuine parts (Genuine or Original Equipment, OE)
These are parts selected or recommended by the car manufacturer for installation into new and used cars of this brand. Similar parts have been manufactured precisely in compliance with all demands laid down by the manufacturer with regard to initial materials and technological process.All production cycle has been controlled and certified by car manufacturer, who, at the end, labels similar parts with his logo. 2. Parts supplied by Original Equipment Manufacturer, ОЕМ, and Original Equipment Supplier, OES)
This group includes several types of parts:
- Parts being sold directly from the same conveyor, where genuine parts have been manufactured,
- Parts being produced by the same manufacturer, which produces parts for original factory equipment,
- Parts introduced in the market from warehouses of suppliers, delivering parts for original factory equipment.
In the first case, difference between parts supplied and original ones is that they have been introduced in the market through factory distribution networks, instead of dealers of the car manufacturer. In this case, parts have not been labelled with the logo of the car manufacturer, but the quality thereof is identical to original.
In the second case, these are parts manufactured in neighbouring conveyors of the same company for different car manufacturers or brands. Because satisfaction of buyers, and, accordingly, prestige and future income of the car manufacturer depends on quality of operation of nodes in new car, selection of suppliers has been performed extremely thoroughly, and the entire company undergoes certification. Even if particular part has not been installed in original equipment, the fact that the manufacturer undergoes such complicated verification means high criteria and standards of approach to work, and high quality of production processes.
In the third case, the company, which supplies parts for original factory equipment, does not manufacture spare parts itself, but orders them from several manufacturers. Many companies compete for the honorary right to be the only or the one from among selected suppliers of parts to conveyors of car manufacturers. The company included in this list strictly complies with and demands from all its suppliers to comply with all necessary criteria, ensuring maximum level of quality, irrespective of real place of production.
